Re-Thinking How Our Food Gets to Us (Video from Just Food's CSA Conference)

I was completely blown away by the energy, the commitment and the diversity of the 600+ attendees at Just Food's 2011 CSA in NYC Conference this past weekend. Watch the video above to get inspired.

There's a lot of interest in building a food economy in New York that's not based on the trucking of corn and soybean products from the Midwest. But can our efforts - both to preserve affordable farmland in our region and to innovate with urban farming techniques - allow us to become truly self-sustaining? We have a lot of work to do if we're serious about creating a local food economy that allows everyone access to local, sustainably produce food.

Wow! Good energy, well captured. I'm excited for Indiana- where in the '50's we used to ship most of the big watermelons to NYC- we can still do it!
